Sludge tanks hold some of the most difficult material any spray or mixing equipment will encounter — dense, often abrasive slurry that settles and stratifies without continuous agitation, and that will clog any nozzle without a generous free passage. Keeping sludge suspended and homogeneous is essential both for downstream processing (dewatering, digestion, or disposal all depend on consistent solids content) and for preventing the buildup that eventually requires a tank to be taken offline for manual cleanout. Eductors are particularly well suited to this duty, using a pumped liquid stream to entrain and circulate tank contents without a mechanical impeller exposed directly to abrasive solids.
